Culture Day Celebration by Secondary and Primary School Students

Photo shoots of my students on their Secondary/Primary culture Day celebration organized by the school management on every first term in each Academic section. The culture day is a celebration of various tribes, tradition and culture of diverse students and staffs in the school (which is my working place- Baptist High School, Benin city, Edo state. Nigeria).

The ceremony is packed with a lot of activities like building palm front tents by staffs and students for each tribe, Preparing Local Traditional Dishes, Cultural Dance and Music and the display of colourful attire, make ups and costumes by various cultures in the school.

On my next post I will share more photos on their various cultural dances.

HAPPY EASTER CELEBRATION! Every one.

Experimentation, Exploring Abstract Painting

Expressional Mixed media Painting

Experimentation, Exploring Abstract Painting is always interesting and full with suspense (it put me on my toes) waiting for the result or finished work to unfold. It’s like giving birth to a beautiful baby.

Every day I think of ways to make my painting different from the previous one, telling colourful stories of a restless mind of an African Artist. Searching for ways and mediums to create a visual expression of my imagination and thought.

The above Acrylic Mixed media Painting is colourful fragment of my thought and imagination

Contemporary Biro Sketches of an African Concept

Sketches of African Concept 4Sketches of African Concept 1Sketches of African Concept.3African Sketch 1

These are Biro Sketches of my various concepts on African Dolls on a drawing sheet which I made last week. I have been thinking and working on changing my composition and expressing freedom, flexibility/innovation on the concept.

Since July 2012 I have not done any art piece on the subject “The African Dolls”. I was getting tired of my traditional style of painting the subject, and thinking of numerous ways to drawing/painting my subject. I don’t want the concept of this art to look boring with a particular style of composition.

The above sketches are more complex and interesting when it is expressed or translated with colours on a flat surface. The painting is imbedded with lines, shapes, Contrasting Values of Harmonious Colours on a flat surface, and African Imaginative Inscriptions and Motifs.

Check out next post for more sketches on my Imaginative Concept on African Dolls.

Expressionist Mixed media Abstract Art.

Expressional Mixed media Abstract Art.

A new Expressionist Abstract art in Mixed media Painting, the art is a combination of various styles/techniques which are: African Motifs/Inscription Painting, splashing of colours with my brushes and a combination with squeezed newspapers with yarn stitches on canvas.

After finishing the art I spent time looking at the painting. I was trilled by the experimental effect of the mixed media expressionist abstract painting – its contrast, values, shapes and texture flow. The painting was inspired by an abstract painting tweeted by an artist in which I could not even remember his/her name or  twitter address but I was in love with the art

The painting was colourful, it was an Expression of Colourful Lines, Shapes and flow on a dark background.

Contemporary Abstract Mixed media Painting

Abstract Mixed madia Painting.

This is an Abstract mixed media painting with a dimension in 61cm by 50cm, medium: Newspapers, yarn (with hand stitches), acrylic and canvas. As an artist I key my works and ideas with quotes of Pablo Picasso @ www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/

.I paint object as I think them, not as I see them.

.The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place from the sky, from the earth, from a passing shape, from a spider web,

.Painting is a blind man’s profession. He paints not what he sees, but what he feels, what he tell himself about what he has seen.

.Everything you can imagine is real.

.An idea is a point, of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought.

.I begin with an idea and then it becomes something else.

.There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. After ward you can remove all trace of reality.

.Sculpture is the best comment that a painter can make on painting.

Mixed media Art of Contemporary Designs and Colours, Titled: ”The Fashionistic” .

Mixed media Art of contemporary designs and coloursx

I create an art piece with out knowing the final out come but with a concept to explore a dramatic texture effect and abundant use of colours, values, spaces and shapes. To create a message that can be seen after finishing the Art. And giving the freedom for my viewers or audience to see their own message and title it if they want to.

The Imaginative Abstract Mixed media Art piece is the Experimentation of Yarn Stitches, Yarn, Newspapers and Acrylic on Canvas. Giving my Mixed media painting a rich feeling or looks in texture, flow and rhythm. I just want to explore and watch the flow or movement of various types of lines achieved by the yarn and the squeezed nature of the newspapers which reflect under the colours. At the end of day I was able to title the Art- The Fashionistic. Because after finishing the piece, what I could see or imagine was Fashion, a European Stylist or Colourful Fashion on Canvas.

This is one of my Mixed media Art of Contemporary Designs and Colours.

A Contemporary Mixed media Painting, Titled: Masquerade on the Move.

Contemporary Mixed media Painting Titled- The Masquerade on the Move.

This is a painting of my textured canvas with Harmonious Colours in Boxes with an unpredicted finishing. I kind of like the out come of this Contemporary Mixed media Painting, the movement, flow and colour harmony. After finishing the art I stare at it all day. Among all the art I have created recently this is one my favorite for the now

The Contemporary mixed media Painting is created with mediums which are newspapers, canvas, acrylic and yarn (which is stitched or sewn to the newspaper on the canvas with needles). After finishing the mixed media painting I was able to title it- Masquerade on the Move.

The textured movement on my finished art reminded me of African Cultural Festival in my town. The busy, colourful and textured looking African Masquerade with their dramatic display and dance steps, which is full of energy. Is what I can picture in this Contemporary mixed media painting.

Colourful Mixed media Art, Titled: The Playful Mind

A Mixed media Colourful Painting

I titled this painting ‘The Playful Mind’ the concept of this art piece is a spontaneous expression of an Artistic Mind of Freedom and Possibilities. This is like Painting my thought or my smile with Loosed Brush Strokes, exploring my space and texture on the canvas.

The Colourful Mixed media Art was created with mediums in newspapers, net, acrylic paint on canvas, in the year 2013.
